Vari/ations: Ode to Oram

Nonclassical comissioned me to create a design for the new album ‘Vari/ations: ode to oram’. The pioneering electronic sounds of Daphne Oram reimagined by TAAHLIAH, Cosey Fanni Tutti, Marta Salogni, Arushi Jain and others using tapes from Oram's archive. The design was then also translated for an event at the barbican. 

I went through the amazing Oram archive at Goldsmiths to find original scores hand painted by Daphne Oram. Once a score had been selected I carefully repainted it as close to her hand as possible, photographing in on glass similar to what she would have drawn hers on. The result was a reinterpretation of Daphnes’s own design to reflect the incredible varied use of her sounds on the album.
